Luminaria Shawl - Digital Knitting Pattern

$7.00

Advent kits can be challenging to design for, but this shawl flowed out of my brain so naturally it felt like fate. Luminaria was originally designed to be included in the 2020 Woolberry mini advent, and I tried to incorporate my style and Bethany’s vibe in this cozy, casual piece. The pattern becomes very intuitive as you work, and the creative choices you make in your contrast will make this shawl uniquely yours.

Thank you so much for your support of Luminaria. Please use the tag #luminariashawl to share with me on instagram! Seeing your yarn choices and watching your progress is the greatest joy. Happy knitting!

Materials:

  • Size US 6 circular needles (suggested 30” cord)

  • Darning needle

  • Stitch markers (4)

  • Snips

  • Scale that measures in grams

  • Pom-pom maker (optional)

Yarn:
Fingering Weight Yarn

  • Main Color - 100g / 400yds

  • Contrast Colors - (10) 20g mini skeins OR equivalent scraps

MC: For the main color, I do suggest a solid, tonal or lightly speckled yarn. You will want to make sure it has enough contrast to stand up against the colors you use for your CC.

CC: Select a combination of 20g mini skeins or scraps equivalent to at least 130g of yarn.

The border in the sample uses 3 colors and you will need at least 10g of each going in to the border if you chose to knit as written (so keep this in mind from the beginning when selecting yarn). I like the low contrast pinks used in the sample to keep the border modern and simple, but a more contrasting choice would give the border a more graphic and playful look.

Approx Finished Dimensions:
58” wide by 27” deep after blocking

Gauge:
23 sts x 5.5 (8 row) repeats in pattern specified in swatch after blocking = 4” sq
